Fun Fremont Fact

While doing some online shopping this morning, I did not notice until after the transaction was complete, that in my mailing address the state of New York was selected.  The zip code was correct.  My initial thought was, "well, there can't possibly be a Fremont, New York and they'll use the zip anyway." I knew of a Fremont, Nebraska, but none on the east coast.  But I thought I would check, being curious.  And wouldn't you know, there is a Fremont NY!  That guy really got around.

The town was named in the honor of General John C. Fremont.
He was among the few men who had helped organize the new town and was admired
by many. Fremont, NY became the eleventh municipality. Lands in the township
were the last to be rendered for settlement.

Police Activity at CVS on Driscoll

There is an apparent assault victim in the parking lot of the CVS on Driscoll.  He told dispatchers that he was hit in the head.  Earlier this evening there was an assault victim at CJ Liquors on Stevenson near Blacow.  That victim, who was down on the ground for several minutes before help arrived, was transported to a trauma center.

Another Rainy Friday Night; Another Serious Hit and Run

An injury hit and run accident occurred around 6:45 this evening on Argonaut behind Michael's at the Fremont Hub.  The suspect vehicle was described as a white SUV, last seen northbound towards Walnut.  One week ago, also on a dark rainy night, a pedestrian was struck on Niles Blvd and killed by a hit and run driver.  An occupant of the vehicle was taken to a trauma center, but the extent of the injuries are not known. 

Goodyear Blimp Over Fremont

The Goodyear Blimp, N3A, was spotted flying south along 680 at 2,700 feet at 3:30 this afternoon.  From internet data, the blimp departed Livermore airport.  The blimp is probably en route to the football stadium in Santa Clara to provide low altitude video for the college football game tonight.  Go Ducks!

Gun Call in Irvington

Around 1 o'clock this afternoon a citizen reported a man on a bicycle crossing the street in the Irvington district with a gun tucked in his waistband.  The party was over at Monument Park, near 5 Corners.  6J1, a school resource officer, located two subjects near the post office and eventually caught up with them near Irvington.  He held the two at gun point until backup officers arrived.  One subject said he had two guns on him.  Both were detained without incident.  Unknown how many guns in total were taken.

Fire Activity at Luckys on Mission

Smoke is coming from the deep fryer in the deli at Luckys on Mission Blvd per a fire captain on scene.  No fire observed.  Two engines and the truck will handle.
