120 MPH Pursuit Down 680

Fremont officers chased a stolen car down 680 into Milpitas early this morning at speeds of up to 120 mph.  The event started at 2:48 this morning when a license plate reader at Washington and Fremont picked up a stolen white 2009 Toyota Camry.  A broadcast was made to patrol officers and a few minutes later an officer observed it at the Shell Station on Fremont at Eugene.  The car fled from the officer and the chase was on..south on Fremont to Washington then onto 680 south.  The patrol vehicles were unable to keep up with the powerful engine of the Camry :) and they lost it around Calaveras Road in Milpitas.

Sideshow Activity

A large sideshow with 200-300 cars is in progress at the south end of Fremont Blvd.  An officer nearby has heard gunshots.  Officers will form up before moving in.  An hour earlier a large group, probably the same group, was at Union Landing in U.C.  They left there without incident.
Update:  vehicles are now leaving north of Fremont Blvd, apparently hearing sirens from arriving units, per an officer observing.

Police Activity in U.C.; Suspect With AK-47 Arrested

UCPD officers are looking for a male that ran from the Motel 6 in U.C. around 11 this morning.  The want is unknown, but he was last seen jumping from the second floor balcony,  and checking his waistband as he ran.  The Motel 6 has been advised to lock down their guests and nearby business are being told via phone about the wanted subject.  Fremont PD has sent a drone crew and HPD has sent several officers to assist.  The Motel 6 is located on Industrial off of Whipple.
At 11:22 an officer has a man in the alley behind the Motel 6 that is "non compliant".  Numerous officers rolling in.  He is now compliant and proned out. Subject in custody.

*******

This event began around 10:52 when a person reported a man parked in a car in the Decoto district with an assault weapon on his lap.  A description of the vehicle was given out and a few minutes later a canine officer spotted the vehicle a few block away and followed it onto westbound Whipple.  Other officers joined in before an enforcement stop was initiated.  The car failed to yield to the red light and accelerated westbound at a speed of 70 mph.  The vehicle then stopped or crashed near the Motel 6 and the subject ran into the motel parking lot.  The canine officer located an "AK" on the driver's floorboard of the suspect car.  After a search of 20 minutes or so, the suspect was located in an alley behind the Motel 6 and taken into custody, but will be transported to a hospital for unknown injuries.  This may be the break UCPD is looking for to solve recent shootings involving bullets used from AK-47 style weapons.

Update:  listening to the ambulance call the hospital "en route with an 18 year old male in police custody...jumped off a 20 foot wall, landed on his right flank on some rocks.  No head injury."

Sergeant Axes Construction Noise Complaint

At around 9:30 on this Sunday morning, officers were dispatched to check a complaint of construction noise at the YMCA on Blacow off of Grimmer.  The reporting party said a tractor was working in the children's play area creating a lot of noise.  Construction on Sundays within 500 feet of any home is not authorized in Fremont per COF website:

"Construction Within 500 Feet of Residential, Lodging, or Hospitals Weekday hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the Saturday or holiday hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., while Sunday construction is not allowed. "

A sergeant inquired if the reporting party was anonymous and the dispatcher answered in the affirmative.  He then said to cancel the call.  Perhaps too many people have complained about construction noise in the city over the last few years and the PD doesn't want to get involved.  But aren't we all tired of the construction and screwed up roads and don't we look forward to being able to sleep in or attend church on Sunday with out hearing a lot of banging and commotion?  FPD should take these complaints more seriously.

Fight at Bronco Billy's

What a great name for a movie:  Fight at Bronco Billy's.  Four men were reported to be in a fist fight on Niles Blvd in front of Bronco Billy's Pizza at around 2 this morning.  The subjects left prior to officers arriving.

Two Homicides in Hayward (Updated)

There were shots fired in Hayward this afternoon on Santa Clara Street.  No details on the victim, if there is one.  At least two shell casings were found outside a residence, possibly in the street, but I don't know if anyone was struck.  According to Pulse Point, Hayward Fire did not have any medical calls in the area.
