Sergeant Axes Construction Noise Complaint

At around 9:30 on this Sunday morning, officers were dispatched to check a complaint of construction noise at the YMCA on Blacow off of Grimmer.  The reporting party said a tractor was working in the children's play area creating a lot of noise.  Construction on Sundays within 500 feet of any home is not authorized in Fremont per COF website:

"Construction Within 500 Feet of Residential, Lodging, or Hospitals Weekday hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the Saturday or holiday hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., while Sunday construction is not allowed. "

A sergeant inquired if the reporting party was anonymous and the dispatcher answered in the affirmative.  He then said to cancel the call.  Perhaps too many people have complained about construction noise in the city over the last few years and the PD doesn't want to get involved.  But aren't we all tired of the construction and screwed up roads and don't we look forward to being able to sleep in or attend church on Sunday with out hearing a lot of banging and commotion?  FPD should take these complaints more seriously.

  1. I totally agree with you. Enough is enough. I have heard chainsaws in the middle of the night and heavy equipment being used. You can hear the rumble of the engine as well as the back up warning beeps.

  2. The back up beeps are the worse. When a project was going on around here, every Monday morning around 5 a.m. they took deliveries of supplies and off loaded with a forklift and they beeped for 30 mins it seemed. Very annoying.
