OPD Copter Flying Over Fremont (Updated)

OPD copter "Argus" was observed over Vargas Plateau Regional Park this morning, flying low and almost landing on a trail on the west side.  It was then observed flying west towards Hayward.  30 minutes later or so it was again observed flying low south eastbound along Mission Blvd.  There is no unusual chatter on the radio.  Perhaps this is a training mission.

Update:  A blog reader provided a track of Argus showing it departing Oakland and  following a straight line down Mission Blvd into San Jose and beyond.  I checked a flight tracker and found a copter over Vargas at 9:00 a.m. at a low altitude.  It then climbed and flew to Coyote Hills where it descended, then climbed again and landed at Hayward.  Perhaps this latter copter was a regional park contract flight of some sort.

  1. Let’s hope it’s for training purposes only.

  2. There is chatter on the Oakland channel and they do have a perimeter set up looking for someone. The person they are looking for is violent towards PD. They have a chopper in the air.
