Officer Injured at Centerville Post Office on 5150 Call

A Fremont patrol officer was apparently injured in a call related to a  mentally ill man at the Centerville Post Office on Dusterberry Avenue around 10:55 this morning.  While it is unknown why officers were dispatched to the post office, the first officers that arrived around 10:50 encountered the crazy man in the lobby and request a third officer to assist.  Shortly thereafter, according to radio traffic,  the man fled on foot and a foot pursuit began.  Another officer stated he would wait in the parking lot with the injured officer and requested paramedics.  FFD responded and was on scene for over 30 minutes.  The nature or cause of injuries is not known.  It is unknown if the officer was taken to a hospital.  In the meantime, officers caught up with the crazy man on Contra Costa Avenue and apparently tased him as an officer said "one on wire" and then requested paramedics.
