Two alarms were pulled for a smoke investigation at the Fremont Health Care nursing facility near Mowry and Argonaut around 12:30 this afternoon. Sounds like smoke was coming from the electrical box, possibly due to an electrical surge, per radio traffic. The occupants were evacuated to the far side of the facility, but were let back into their rooms about 20 minutes later. I don't believe there was a fire, but just smoke, and because this was a nursing facility, the second alarm was probably precautionary in nature. Two or three engine companies and an ambulance will remain on scene until all patients are safely back in their rooms.
Update: The fire marshal is on scene and starting an investigation, presumedly of the electrical system.
