A man in Niles was displaying covid-19 symptoms and Niles engine 52 responded. The dispatcher advised to wear enhanced clothing. E52 advised there would be a three minute delay to suit up. Upon arrival they asked that the patient walk out into the street to meet them, if he could. He could. Apparently there was some discussion about getting to the hospital. I don't know if there was a delay in an ambulance or he was encouraged to drive himself, but the engine company advised dispatch that he would drive himself to Kaiser-Fremont and wait in the parking lot for someone to come out. Sounded good. This would keep the paramedics from possible exposure. But the dispatcher called back. Kaiser said the parking lot was closed. He would have to park in the street and call the hospital on the phone. Well, a good plan gone bad. Apparently Kaiser does not have a tent in the parking lot like WTH has to screen patients. Poor guy. I think E52 will wait for an ambulance next time for Kaiser patients.
Note: Not sure if there are parking restrictions at Washington in the ER parking area.
This is crazy. What are the two white tents in the Kaiser Fremont ER parking lot for then?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they had tents there like WTH. Yes, the guy should have been told to park and walk to the tents or better yet, have someone drop him off.
ReplyDeleteI agree, he should have or they should have taken him. That’s so wrong.
