In this case, according to the Chronicle, the UC Berkeley officer believed a woman in the vehicle was in danger, hearing her screaming for help. It is unfortunate that an innocent party was struck and killed by the fleeing vehicle. But to have this same result when chasing a vehicle for a minor vehicle equipment infraction, petty theft or other minor property crimes, is unjustified, in my humble opinion.

Here is an Innocent victim. The tragedy is that it could have been avoided by careful decisions by better skilled cops. I'm sure they did what they thought was the best course of action at the time, they can't be blamed for that. No doubt they feel terrible too.
ReplyDeleteWho was this woman screaming for help? Was she in danger?
Was she in the car that was "fleeing"? Who was? and why bother blocking the on ramps to the freeway after the car is seen going onto it? And are they telling me that the cops don't have dashboard cams in their cars?!? These things can be bought for 10 bucks at Grocery Outlet. Cmon!
