Police Activity in Niles Canyon (Updated)

Alameda County Sheriff deputies are searching an area about two miles in on Niles Canyon Road for a residential burglary suspect.  They have asked for assistance from FPD, including the K-9 unit.  The suspect was apparently fleeing from deputies but the location of the crime is unknown.  FPD is sending a drone as well.

BURGLARY IN PROGRESS

Deputies were detailed to a burglary in progress on Niles Canyon Road in Sunol, CA.

Deputies spotted the suspect, Noorallah Kasir, running away from the scene up a steep hill. K9 “Queen” responded to the scene to assist and located the suspect after a lengthy track through challenging terrain.

K9 Queen apprehended the suspect and they both rolled over 100 yards down the hill. The suspect tried to fight K9 Queen but she would not let go. After an intense struggle with our K9, Kasir was taken into custody.

Kasir was treated at a local hospital for K9 bites and will recover. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail for burglary. He is currently out on bail for an alleged robbery in Hayward and is also on felony probation.

K9 Queen was taken to the vet after her tumble to make sure she was not injured. She was returned to full duty and we are grateful she is ok.
