Pursuit Sped by 4 Schools
While all of the schools were out by 3 o'clock, a high speed chase down Fremont Blvd on a weekday afternoon seemed a risky proposition. The pursuit passed Washington High, Prince of Peace, Centerville Jr. High and Thornton Jr. High around 3:35 - 3:40 this afternoon. The junior high schools were out at 2:30 and the other two schools at 3. An officer in the pursuit reported speeds of up to 60 mph in "medium traffic" on Fremont Blvd. And a high speed as well while turning from Dusterberry to Thornton by Thornton Junior High. I don't know if the supervisors factor in school bell times when authorizing chases on school days, but one would think they would. No felon is worth the life of a school kid.

That type of risk is uncalled for. I agree, we need to keep our kids safe!
