Police Activity Tonight at Washington High

You may have noticed police activity and/or scanner traffic regarding a theft and/or a gun at WHS.  Here is a letter from the school principal explaining the circumstances of the event:

 Washington Community,

Tonight after practice, football players returned to their lockers to find items missing. In an effort to locate missing items, several players approached a car in the student parking lot. A passenger in the car told the players to get away from the car and informed the players that there was a gun in the trunk of the car. The car left, the football players returned to the locker room and the police were called.

While the police were taking reports from football players they received a call about a possible suspect with a gun in or around the Washington gym area. Police searched the area and this turned out to be an unwarranted report generated by false social media posts.

The situation is resolved and students and staff are safe to attend school tomorrow.
