Fremont Police dispatch now has available a "busy tone" that can be used on the dispatch channel when the channel is restricted for emergency transmissions only. I heard it for the first time around 7 this evening during a high risk traffic stop. CHP and many other departments have been using that feature for years. So, when you hear "980 on the Main" you can expect to hear the busy signal being broadcast.
That’s good. I wondered why they didn’t have one. Good to know.
ReplyDeleteFremont and all the other agencies in Alameda and CoCo Counties are transitioning to new technology. Perhaps they have some new equipment in dispatch with this feature. And the officers are getting new radios now.
