Below is a transcript of radio traffic from key portions of Friday night's shooting of two theft suspects in Union City.  Please note that there is no mention of "Robbery or 211" nor any mention of weapons or use of force to commit the 487PC (grand theft).

note:  at the time of call it apparently was believed they broke into a locked stored to take the items.  This was later corrected to a 487, grand theft.

A sergeant and a patrol officer arrived 30 seconds later.
6:50  S35:  "S35, 3O17 and I are 10-97 (arriving at the store)"

40 seconds later the patrol officer gives an update on the vehicle that has already left the store.
6:51:  3017:  "Everyone is saying its a black SUV that went out towards the street, possibly going towards Auto Mall."

Two minutes later another patrol officer spots a possible suspect vehicle driving north on 880.
6:53:  3O9:  "I have a possible for that 459 car.  Northbound 880 past Stevenson.  Looks like a black SUV with no plates."
note:  This vehicle was not observed and chased from the store, but located on 880 some 3 minutes after officers arrived at the store.

6:54:  3O9: "It's taking off." pause  "I'll be in pursuit northbound 880 approaching Mowry, moderate traffic."

90 seconds later the officer at the store confirms the crime as a grand theft.
6:55:  3O17: "3O17 good 487".

While the pursuit continues up 880, the watch commander inquires as to what the want is on this vehicle.
6:56:  L31: "L31 confirm the want."
          Dispatcher:  "They said good 487."

The pursuit continues up 880 into Union City, where they exit east onto Alvarado-Niles Blvd and eventually turn into a cul de sac on Balmoral Street.   A Union City PD K-9 officer was dispatched to the pursuit and apparently arrived on Balmoral Street with or close behind FPD.

7:00  3O3:  "We're in a cul de sac!"
15 seconds later..
7:00  Dispatcher:  "Union City advising subjects at gun point."
5 seconds later.
7:00 Dispatcher:  "They're advising shots fired."
40 second later the UCPD K-9 officer transmits on FPD dispatch channel.
