Just before midnight an auto struck a ped on Paseo near Capitol, in front of Raley's. The ped was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:01. Numerous callers to the PD on this event and some said that a man on a bicycle was struck, yet the news article quotes a police sergeant as saying it was a pedestrian. Perhaps he was walking his bicycle across the street. The involved vehicle was a Toyota Camry. Here is the story from the East Bay Times:
