This is one of the weirdest things I have heard on the scanner over the years. A brand new Tesla Model X, valued at around $100K, is taken from the factory, "likely by an employee", and driven to East Palo Alto. The vehicle was in the factory lot awaiting delivery to the customer. Tesla security agents, using GPS tracking, followed the vehicle from East Palo Alto, across the Dumbarton into U.C. From there the stolen black Tesla made it into the Deep Creek Road area of north Fremont, where FPD was called in to assist at about 10:45 a.m. Tesla security located the vehicle unoccupied off of Deep Creek and FPD detectives rolled in. The Tesla people did see the driver exit the Model X and provided detectives with a description. While unmarked cars roamed the area, a Lyft vehicle picks up two men nearby and heads out on Paseo Padre towards the Dumbarton. An alert detective sees this and radios for other units to stop it. A stop is made on Paseo at Kaiser at 11:10 a.m. The Lyft driver says they are en route to East Palo Alto. The passengers are pulled out and one is positively identified by Tesla employees as the driver. Total time to arrest the suspect from first call:
30 minutes.

That’s weird and insane.
