An alert officer, 3X9, observed an auto burglary go down at Pacific Commons and followed the suspect vehicle onto 880 north. The suspect vehicle has been reported as stolen. The pursuit ended just north of Stevenson when the suspect stopped his vehicle and then ran across the freeway to the Newark side. Numerous officers are in the area of 880 and the car dealerships on the Newark side. There is only one suspect.
Update at noon: A suspect has been taken into custody. The suspect was hiding in a trash can near the Mazda dealership. He is a San Francisco man and S.F. is where the car was stolen from.
