Friday Afternoon Pursuit on City Streets

Fremont Police officers chased a white 2017 Porsche through the streets of Union City and on to the Dumbarton Bridge before losing sight of it just before 4 this afternoon.  The vehicle was wanted in connection with auto burglaries.  An alert officer, 1X4, observed the vehicle in the Niles District before turning on the red light on Niles Blvd north of Linda.  The vehicle fled and accelerated up to 90 mph before slowing at Decoto.  West on Decoto they went, crossing 880 and then accelerating up to 110 mph before losing sight of the vehicle.  Menlo Park Police were dispatched to the west side of the bridge, but it is unknown if they intercepted the vehicle.  Friday afternoons in the East Bay are historically busy periods on city streets with commuters heading home, kids being transported home from school, and others just out and about on this sunny mid autumn day.
