From what people were telling the dispatchers, it sounded like a mass shooting had gone down at the Target at the Fremont Hub Thursday night. Customers inside were hiding and calling 9-1-1 after hearing shots being fired, not knowing that they were being shot from outside. Here is how it went down on the radio:
11:38 Call dispatched "10-71 (shooting) at Target at The Hub. We are getting multiple callers of shots fired inside the store." 3 officers were dispatched, but many many more officers rolled on this.
11:39 A sergeant asks that Fremont Fire roll and stage, thinking that there may be multiple gun shot victims in the store.
11:40:30 First officer arrives, 90 seconds after the call came out.
11:40:50 The officer advises that no one was hit. Shots were fired in the air. A silver Jetta just took off.
11:41:45 (Less than 3 minutes after the call came out) Unit 1A3, a midnight zone 1 patrol officer, sees the suspect vehicle, "I've got the vehicle. Northbound on Glenview. I'm in pursuit..silver Passat."
11:43:30 1A3 advises they are going into Newark on Central Avenue.
11:43:45 1A3 transmits two cryptic messages "foot bail" and "one at gun point". Two other officers had joined in the pursuit prior to this and all 3 are rounding up the five suspects. No injuries reported.
