An intoxicated driver took out a CHP motor sergeant who was stopped on the shoulder of I-15 on a traffic stop yesterday afternoon. Here is a link to the LA Times story:

Update from CHP:
On April 6, 2019, at approximately 1625 hours, a CHP Riverside Area motor sergeant was conducting an enforcement stop on the right shoulder of southbound Interstate 15 south of Lake Street. A vehicle entered the right shoulder striking the sergeant and the vehicle he had stopped. The sergeant was transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Inland Division Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team responded to assist Area personnel with the investigation.
