Hiker Questions Older Man With Child

A man in his fifties was walking along the Alameda Creek Trail near Old Canyon this morning with a five year old child.  To one hiker it looked odd.   They apparently didn't seem to go together.  The hiker asked the child if he knew him and what his name was.  He said the correct name and then the hiker  asked how he knew his name.  "He just old me" he said.  Red flag went up.  The man said he knew it looked odd, but he knew the parents and they were going for a walk.  The hiker called 9-1-1 and two officers arrived in short order.  The man was alone when talked to by officers.  His drivers license had been suspended and he was on probation.  I don't know how this turned out...could have been perfectly fine, or this could have ended in disaster, but for one concerned hiker, intervention was necessary.
