It was on this day in 1978 that Dennis Eckersley was traded from the Cleveland Indians to the Boston Red Sox in a multi-player deal. The Eck went on to win 20 games for the Sox that season. The 1972 Washington High grad went on to a very successful baseball career which landed him in the Baseball Hall of Fame. But more importantly locally, the Washington High baseball field is named after him:
Dennis Eckersley Field.
Let’s go Dodgers!
