Tesla Patrol Vehicle Used In Pursuit

Fremont Police Department deployed their new Tesla patrol vehicle in Friday night's pursuit said Chief Petersen early today.  The vehicle was equipped with new LIDAR technology that allowed the patrol vehicle to stay behind the suspect vehicle at a predetermined distance.  This allowed the autopilot to control the vehicle throughout the pursuit with no human intervention.  In fact, according to the Fremont chief, there were no humans in the vehicle. " Our street crimes crew was sitting on a stolen vehicle at the Motel 6 North early Friday night . We programmed the Tesla to follow the vehicle when it left the lot and to activate the lights and siren when the speed exceeded 20 mph" said Chief Petersen.  " While we did not have a police officer in the vehicle we did have a trained canine unit inside. You should have seen the look on people as the Tesla drove by with the dog behind the steering wheel.  I haven't laughed so hard since my days at Stanford when I kicked a soccer ball off the dean's rear end" the Chief said. Asked if this would be a continuing practice the chief sounded doubtful.  " The police union is upset because they are afraid the canines will be writing traffic tickets but Elon called me and offered me free Earthquakes tickets if we do it again, so maybe".
