Wild 100 MPH Chase Across the San Mateo Bridge

San Mateo Police officers chased auto burglary suspects across the San Mateo Bridge shortly after 8 o'clock this evening, reaching speeds of 100 mph.  California Highway Patrol officers joined in at the toll plaza as the pursuit of the silver Honda continued across 880 into Hayward.  At one point the vehicle made a right hand turn onto Santa Clara Avenue and stopped.  A felony stop was initiated, but the Honda backed up quickly into the CHP cruiser.  The officer was not hurt, but the chase continued with five San Mateo officers resuming the chase, now north on 880.  The Honda exited at Hesperian and then turned east on Lewelling Avenue and then north on Ashland Ave in unincorporated San Leandro.  Down E 14th St to the northbound 238 on ramp where the vehicle stopped and a felony stop was initiated.  Three suspects were quickly taken into custody.

  1. There were 80 listeners to my CHP feed, so I had to play it back to see what I missed...and wow.

  2. WOW! For some reason I didn’t hear anything on the feed last night. Mostly quiet air.
